Independance Day (July 4th, for you uneducated people) July 4, 2009

Today is the 4th of Julyy. A day of BBQ’s, picnics, and giant balls of fire explooding in the sky causing giant forest fires and mayhem and so much chaos!… Sorry, that’s Armageddon…. Oops :(

Anyways, I think that today is definitely a special day. Today in 1776, our founding fathers got together and said “We’ve had enough of this oppression!” and they signed the document that would create what would one day be the worlds most powerful country.

However, what they try not to tell you in history class is that, prior to common belief, the founding fathers weren’t what everybody said they were. At the time of the signing, most of them were drunk or hungover. And the ones that weren’t, were the day before! I’m not saying this to be mean to our country, this is just a tidbit of information I have read from a couple different sources. However, whether or not they were in fact drunk. They still did what was right in the sight of them and their children. They sat throughout the sacrifice that would come. Most of them were executed in terrible ways for standing up to the British. talk about standing up to a bully.

Unfortunately for us, we live in a state that allows no “fun” fireworks. I’m talking about Mortar cannons. I lived in Washington until last summer, and there the only thing you can’t have are bottle rockets and fire crackers! In Idaho you can have anything you want! Why?! Why must our state be so cruel to us?!

So everyone, go out anbd have a fun 4th. Go buy that $180.00 pack of fireworks. I myself (who now feels like he over endulged) spent a grand total of $90.00 this year. Oh, well. I guess I will just have to pay for my band fees by groveling in the streets, growing a beard not showering and standing on street corners with a sign, or by working more at my awesome job!

Bad Week for America (yes this is a joke) July 1, 2009

Well, my fellow Americans, as you may know already, this past week (last full week of June) was NOT the best week. I am not talking about the military coup in Honduras, or all the unnecessary tax bills the President has proposed/signed, and of course we can’t forget the Iranian Election, or The U.S. Soccer teams amazing win over Number 1 Spain and heartbreaking loss against world powerhouse Brazil. In fact I am referring to the passing of a giant. Standing at a towering 5 foot 10 inches (okay maybe not THAT towering, in fact that’s shorter than me!), I of course am talking about Michael Jackson.

As a musician, he was a genius, and produced hits such as Smooth Criminal, Billy Jean, The Way You Make Me Feel, Beat It, and of course Thriller, to name a few. All of which songs showed a great musicality, and strong ethic of work and sweat that had to have gone into them.

As a dancer he was magical. Of course it’s a lot easier to moon walk when you only way 85 pounds. I mean come on! Even Lindsay Lohan is fatter than that! (Not by much mind you but still…)

But let’s face it. As a person, the guy was a total creep. As he grew older, his voice, instead of getting deeper and manlier, got higher and more gay-ish-y. And how many noses did he have again? He’s the reason that plastic surgery caught on. And who can forget the child molestation accusations? Two of them! You would think that paying off the judge and family of the child once would be enough, but then he gets caught again! What kind of idiot commits the same exact crime after being caught once already? Now I will give him that showing his kid to the press (the dangling out the window thing) was just that. He showed his kid to the press. But what kind of a doof hangs the kid OVER the balcony? Why not do the pride rock stance? It’s much safer, and afterwards NO CONTROVERSY!

Okay, well that’s about enough for now.

Good-bye Farrah Fawcett. Good-riddance Michael Jackson. (sobbing noises) BYE Ed McMahon! And to Billy Mays, I would like to order a large tub of OxiClean, and 3 Shamwows.

(Note: all of the above celebrities died within a week of each other. If you didn’t know this, then you are a REALLY sheltered child.)

One of my favorite websites that I visit quite a bit, and in fact am on whenever I am on the computer, is pandora.com. On this website, you can create a free account, and type in the name of a song/band/artist, and it will play music that is very similar. But say you don’t like the song playing? Well give it a thumbs down! But be cautious, putting two thumbs down on the same artist on the same station bans that artist from that station. I abso-freakin-lutely LOVE this website! I have channels for Queen, Journey, Creedance Clearwater Revival, The Police, Bon Jovi, The Killers, Matchbox Twenty, Rob Thomas, Switchfoot, Weezer, Simple Plan, Jack Johnson, Jaspn Mraz, Five For Fighting, 3 Doors Down, The All-American Rejects, Coldplay, Counting Crows, U2, Barenaked Ladies, Billy Joel, Genesis, Foreigner, Everclear, R.E.M., and a couple others. Now, I don’t listen to ALL of these stations ALL the time. But every once in a while, like rich now as I am writing this, I get a hankering for some golden oldies, like Proud Mary or Down On The Corner by CCR (Creedance Clearwater Revival), or Bicycle Race by Queen.

You should TOTALLY check out the website! it can be found in the above link, here, here, here, here, here, Not HERE, definately here, or here!

I don’t know if I will blog during the summer. I have a lot on my plate, what with my Boy Scout Eagle Project in the works, me working, church, scout meetings, youth group, visiting relatives, possibly two different white water rafting trips down the Deschutes and another one I don’t know yet. If I get the chance, the hankerin’, or the inspiration I will.

Don’t worry though! I have made it into the school newspaper! Hopefully I will be a good enough writer to make it into most of the issues. And I will try to make it humorous, and…. well for lack of a better term (I need to pay more attention in Lit :) ) more ME!

As of right now, in upcoming blogs, I will speak about music, crazy things in my life, politics, food, summer, my job, and anything else that comes to mind! Stay tuned! :)

Well, if you haven’t guessed by now I am very, VERY, VEEEEERRRRRRYYYYY far right. In fact I’m probably so far right that I can reach out and touch the left. In fact the only thing left about me is that I am right handed, and therefore left brain dominant. So…. today….. What to talk about today?….. Already talked about taxes…. And global warming…. OOO! OOO! Idea!

I think that raising minimum wage is a bad thing. Sure it’s good for teenagers like me who want to make a few bucks for CD’s, food, clothes, food, car insurance, food, dates, food, etc. but it doesn’t make the adults who work on minimum wage want to get a better job. They figure, “Well, I think I’ll take the easy way out. Minimum wage is so high now that I can live off of it if I work enough hours in some easy-peasy job.” when in reality they can’t, and by the time they realize it, it is too late. It is like the time-old saying goes: Give a man a fish and he can eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he can eat for a lifetime. Sure, if you have one fish your probably thinking, “Well hey! I have a fish that I didn’t have to work for.” instead of “Yes! Now I can feed myself and my family as much as I work for!” Plus who eats only one fish in a day? :)

If minimum wage was lowered, it would encourage more people to go out and get GOOD jobs, which pay a lot more. And here is how it relates to the economy: more people with more money= more people buying things= HIGH ECONOMY!

International Day Of Families May 20, 2009

I believe that the family is the basic unit of anything human. None of us could be here today if the family existed. In my church we are taught that the family is a sacred thing. We believe that the family helps individuals to grow and develope by teaching each other, and growing together. We believe that the more a family sticks together, the happier they are. And when you look at your own family, friends, stories, etc. you will find that this is true.

My family consists of my dad, mom, me, mt little brother, and my little sister.

My Family My bro, top left, is not really taller than me (top right), he is standing on a stool like thing. In reality he is like 4 or 5 inches shorter than me. My sister (the cute one in the middle) is almost 4 years old, and can already tell the difference between some song artists, her favorites are The Wiggles, songs from Hairspray (she calls it “Tracy”), and the one I have taught her: Journey (well what else would you expect?). My mom is probably around 7 inches shorter than me when neither of us is wearing shoes, and my dad is a little taller than I am. Me and my brother both play percussion, and my mom played clarinet in high school. My dad is musically inept, and my sister sings along to anything she knows.

I think that the perfect family is undefinable. For some people it means lots and lots of kids, for some it means only one kid. For some people, just having a parent back would make their family perfect. For me, not having to share a room with my brother would be perfect. I think that I have the perfect family. My parents love each other and us, my brother and I fight but get along, my dog is AMAZING, and my cat looks like a former KGB agent. Sure, we all have our arguments with each other, but it’s hard to stay mad at all when my little sister is around to say something cute that makes everyone laugh.

So in the end I think that the family is DEFINATELY something to enjoy and celebrate.

My Beliefs As An American Citizen pt. II May 15, 2009

Let me start out by saying that I do believe in global warming, and that it really, truly is a problem (and a small one at that) that should be solved. HOWEVER, it is NOT happening because we drive so much. Now, I’m sure that that is a contribution to it, but it is definitely not the main cause.

People like Al Gore will tell you that scientists have conducted studies and found “conclusive” evidence that cars, trains, and even too many people breathing, are increasing the levels of CO2 in the atmosphere. They then challenge us to quit driving as much, and try to find greener ways of transportation. Then they ride their stretch hummer limousines to their private jets that they fly around the world to their next convention where they ride yet another limo to their “meeting.” How can we trust these hypocrites? Especially when their leader truly believes he invented the internet!

Time to change the subject.

As you may have noticed, the economy is not doing so hot today. And before anybody points fingers at the government, it is NOT entirely their fault. It is mainly the result of the CEO’s of banks making a really bad decision, such as giving out loans to people who cannot afford to pay them off. However, the reason why the economy has, and will continue for a while is in fact the governments fault. Last time I checked, the more a business makes. and the less it had to give to the government in taxes, the more profitab;e they became. Who would have thought? So why are we raising the taxes for everyone, including the businesses being bailed out (which means they are taking money away from people, and then giving most of it back), when we could solve the problem better by lowering taxes, therefore increasing the amount of profit, which means more jobs, which means more people buying things, which means HIGHER ECONOMY. Oh, and as a plus, the more people making money, the more people are paying taxes. And the higher that those people are getting paid means the higher the amount of taxes they pay are.

So in the end, we get the great economy, the government gets their money, and we all live happily ever after.
